In 2008, a translation of the book Hunt for the Skinwalker was released in France. The original book had been published in the USA in 2005.

The usual reluctance of French publishers to translate original titles is well established, and we won’t comment on the choice of title for the French edition in 2008: « La science face à l’inexpliqué », a book that was a bestseller in France as well.

By a totally unpredictable combination of circumstances, which we won’t share here, Flying Disk France has the privilege to offer this early March 2025 the translation of a new book which was co-written by the authors of Hunt for the Skinwalkers, this time in association with James T. Lacatski, a senior official at the Defense Intelligence Agency (D.I.A.) in the USA.

Skinwalkers at the Pentagon was published by October 2021

.

As the title suggests, the book directly and indirectly relates to the infamous « Utah Ranch », which was the subject of the 2005 book. However, the central content of Skinwalkers at the Pentagon is a report on a secret program of the D.I.A., the U.S. defense intelligence agency. This program, whose name remained secret until the book’s publication in 2021, was a scientific study by experts in several disciplines.

Robert Bigelow’s B.A.A.S.S. Foundation was awarded a $22 million contract to conduct the program, following its response to a D.I.A. request for proposals (Call for Tenders, published on a  federal official website)

The AAWSAP program (Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program) has closely examined cases of UAP/PAN-type sightings, in particular from the accounts by pilots involved with the USS Nimitz wing in the December 2004 events off San Diego, California.

In this case, the first « Tic Tac » investigation was conducted in 2009 by a highly respected DIA officer who was involved with AAWSAP, eleven years before the resounding publication of the UAP Task Force report in June 2021. The AAWSAP program focused on a very broad spectrum of phenomena, including the paranormal.

Below is the back cover, which summarizes some of the events leading up to the completion of this huge research program, which was active from September 2008 to December 2010.

In 1996, Nevada Senator Harry Reid was invited by his friend George Knapp, a journalist and presenter with Las Vegas TV station KLAS-TV, to a meeting of the board of directors of the NIDS Foundation, chaired by its founder Robert Bigelow. At this meeting, he met Colm Kelleher, who was speaking on behalf of NIDS.

In 2007, Robert Bigelow informed Harry Reid of a letter he had received from Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) scientist Dr. Jim Lacatski, requesting permission to visit the Utah ranch Robert Bigelow had purchased.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid felt it was time to take a scientific approach to the UAP issue. He arranged a confidential meeting with two Senators on the « opaque budget » Appropriations Committee, Alaska Senator Ted Stevens and Hawaii Senator Daniel Inouye.

Thus was born AAWSAP, the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications program. The allocated budget was $22 million, and after an official call for tenders, Robert Bigelow’s company was awarded the contract.

The program remained unknown to the public until December 16, 2017 and the publication of a New York Times article, « Glowing Auras and « Black Money »: The Pentagon’s Mysterious U.F.O. Program »

The New York Times article mentioned that the $22 million contract had been awarded to Bigelow Aerospace, but completely ignored the AAWSAP program, due to a serious misunderstanding that gave disproportionate weight to the AATIP program, an informal project authorized by the Pentagon.

On August 4, 2020, Deputy Secretary of Defense David Norquist approved the creation of the UAP Task Force (UAPTF), whose mission was to detect, analyze and catalog unidentified aerial phenomena that could pose a threat to U.S. national security.

On June 25, 2021, the Office of the Director for National Intelligence (ODNI) published a groundbreaking report on the UAPTF’s findings. »

Harry Reid commented on the ODNI report: « But all this is just a drop in the bucket. We all know there have been a lot more sightings than the ones they looked at—we have military and civilian reports on UAPs in the U.S dating back over the last 70 years, as well as reports from around the world.«

The origins of the ODNI report date back to 2008, thirteen years before its publication. This book looks back at the early stages of this journey, and describes the implementation and scope of the largest official U.S. UAP study program (2008-2010) by the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA)
